Short answer
With Folded, a guest scans the event QR code or taps its link, opens the upload page in Safari or Chrome, selects photos or videos, and submits them. No App Store or Play Store installation is part of that path.
What “no app” changes
A native app must be found, downloaded, opened, and connected to the correct event. A browser page can open directly at that event. This is useful for a one-time task where guests may contribute only once or twice and do not need permanent software on their phone.
No-app does not mean no technology or no permissions. The browser still asks for access when the guest chooses media, and uploads still depend on a usable connection.
The Folded guest path
- Open the unique event link.
- Select photos or video clips from the phone.
- Keep the page open while progress is shown.
- Wait for confirmation before closing the browser.
Guests can repeat that process later with the same link. They do not need to recreate an event connection each time.
What couples should test
Test a recent iPhone and Android device, multiple-file selection, a large image, a short video, cellular data, and a slow connection. Confirm that interrupted uploads can be retried and that the host receives the exact expected files.
When a native app may still make sense
A native app can be appropriate when guests will use a broader event platform for schedules, messaging, RSVPs, or repeated interaction. Folded's browser route is intentionally focused on collecting media with less setup.
Make the ask easy
Collect the photos guests actually took.
Give guests one QR code, let them upload from the browser, and keep the gallery under your control. Photos, videos, late uploads, and one download when you are ready.
